i just want a ball of yarn

so blogger has been yelling at me to upgrade this little guy, and i am nervy like a kitten. but, here goes nothing.

3 days late: a.d.d.

hmmm, last week...is it bad that i can't remember anything that happened more than two days ago? i blame it on the modern day insta-culture we live in. between texting, im, email, online newspapers, online shopping, etc, my attention span really doesn't need to be any longer. but alas, i'm not saying anything new.

i wish i could take a picture of the express clipping i have hanging up in my cubicle right now. san francisco: a twenty-five year old balding penguin wearing a wetsuit. okay first of all, penguins can live to twenty five? i know, i know, its not that old, but i guess i thought penguins were small (like cats) and therefore have similar life spans? also, penguins can go bald?? and wetsuits for penguins??? theory: the penguin's balding made him cold in the arctic water of the california academy of sciences, so they gave him a wetsuit. genius!*

i can also blame my forgetfulness on THE MUSICAL. formerly known as the musical, THE MUSICAL has taken over my life. (kind of) in a good way. but with all the high kicking and fast spinning, i don't think i'm getting enough oxygen to my brain (or something).

and, another thing to add to the list: kayaking in the potomac. and by kayaking i mean, loading a case into the kayaks, paddling for a bit, floating for a while, paddling a bit more, quick bathroom break at the canoe club, floating, realizing life vest left at canoe club, paddling (away from coast guard), ramming into friend's kayak and dumping friend into nasty river, paddling (quickly), running to safety (on dry land). followed by pitchers at the tombs: glory.

*i'm not sure how this helped his feathers grow back, but apparently, it did.

mm...beach

in (temporary) lieu of a real post about the glory that was brazil and the bay area, a few notes inspired by the vacay. and one picture.

perhaps its due to the fact that i was reared in san diego, but i think the beach is just the best.thing.ever. in particular i love:

1) the way that fresh water tastes like sweet nectar after swimming in the salty ocean.

2) drying off in the sun so that by the end of the day your skin feels a little tight and salty.

3) how sand sticks to every part of your foot except for your toenails.

thank goodness its getting to be beach weather around here. now i just need to find some beaches.
